After being banned from the UK for 15 years, Burna Boy returns

In 2010, Damini Ogulu (better known as
Burna Boy) was arrested in the UK by the police for allegedly being part of a gang and stabbing someone to death – where he was tried as a minor and sent to jail.
After 11 months, he was released and given two months parole plus community service on the grounds of ‘good behaviour’, but he broke parole and travelled back to Nigeria where he signed a record deal with Aristocrat Records.


He later traveled back to the UK, but was arrested at the airport, deported to Nigeria and barred from the UK for 15 years. His ban was eventually lifted in 2015 – after just five years. This year he had a homecoming concert,
Redemption, at the Apollo – his first UK concert as Burna Boy – to mark his return.
